Opossums are generally found in open wooded areas but are more common to seek habitats near streams and swamps. Since they are nocturnal, they are seldomly found out during the daytime hours.
Typically opossums raid gardens, chicken coops, bird feeders, pet food, and garbage. They can sometimes den in garages or attics and when they do, they typically make a mess.
Opossums will make a growl, hiss, and/or screech when threatened. Remember, if an opossum is hissing or drooling that does not necessarily rabid. However, it’s best to be safe and give us a call to have it removed.
